Currie European Transport has placed an order with Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland for 25 Euro-6 Volvo FH tractor units.
The 6x2 vehicles are specified with Volvo's 13-litre engine rated at 493hp, and come with the I-Shift automated gearbox and Dynafleet telematics.
The trucks are on Volvo's contract hire programme with three-year terms and are each expected to cover about 180,000km per year.
An evaluation vehicle went into service on 1 March, and data for that month and April shows average fuel consumption to be 9.85mpg.
Currie European has subsequently taken delivery of 10 of the ordered vehicles, with the remainder to come this year.
