Boughey Distribution has completed the transfer of customers from its Deeside warehouse to its facility in Wardle, Greater Manchester.
The streamlining of its network has been in the works since August in a bid to reduce trunking and keep capacity high in the North West.
The Deeside depot remains as an overflow facility with staff transferred to Wardle.
In a trading update for investors issued today, parent NWF Group said “Food [Boughey] has performed as planned with the completion of the move of customers from the Deeside facility into Wardle, which has remained full during the first half of the year. In addition long-term contracts have been signed with major customers, underpinning the business' future volumes.”
One of the major contracts is with food manufacturer Princes, signed in November.
NWF added that overall group pre-tax profit, which includes its own-account interest in feeds and fuels, would be above last year’s levels.
In the 12 months ending 31 May it finished the year with a pre-tax profit of £8.4m, up from £5.1m in 2012 – but operating profits in its foods division fell from £3m to £1.4m.
