Operators set to be affected by the Bath Clean Air Zone (CAZ) are invited to a free, half-day workshop to find out more from the council.
Taking place on 6 March at Bath Racecourse, the event is being organised by Motor Transport in partnership with Bath & North East Somerset Council.
Bath’s CAZ proposal means commercial vehicle operators would need to ensure their fleet vehicles meet Euro-6 standards for diesel to avoid being charged in the designated area.
Suggested charges for a non-compliant vehicle are £100 daily for HGVs and £9 daily for vans.
Following a public consultation, which received a large volume of responses, the council is carrying out further assessments before it confirms its final plan.
Councillor Bob Goodman, cabinet member for development and neighbourhoods, said: “Air pollution in Bath has to be addressed to make the city cleaner, greener and healthier.
"Our aim is to be compliant with the minimum detrimental effect on our visitors, residents and businesses, while maintaining and growing the successful economy in the city.
"The Clean Air Roadshow will give commercial vehicle operators a chance to find out how our proposals will affect them and the options available to ensure they are compliant.”
The roadshow will provide practical advice to those operating or servicing commercial vehicles via a series of short workshops designed to help both local and national operators future-proof their fleets.
Topics will include:
• Rental, leasing and maintenance options for alternative fuel commercial vehicles
• Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme
• Case studies from HGV and van operators on the practicalities of implementing alternative fuel fleet vehicles.
Councillor Mark Shelford, cabinet member for transport and environment, said: “This event is specifically designed to help commercial vehicle operators ensure they are complaint.
"They will be able to hear first-hand from operators who are already using a variety of alternative fuels in their vehicles and they will be able get advice from rental and retrofit specialists on choosing the right option for their fleet.”
Manufacturers will also be on hand to discuss the latest urban technology and vehicles on the market.
The Motor Transport Bath Clean Air Roadshow is free to attend but you need to register online.
