The shortage of skilled drivers continues to be the major concern for senior professionals in road haulage and logistics businesses throughout the UK, according to the findings of a major study published at the CV Show this week.

According to the findings of the Asset Alliance Industry Monitor, in association with Motor Transport, some 57% of MDs, chief executives, business owners and senior managers believe that the lack of skilled drivers is the biggest concern for the future of road haulage and logistics.

The availability of skilled labour was much more of a concern than ‘legislation curbing the use of diesel engines’ (20.2% of respondents sited this as the biggest concern); ‘an ‘uncertain legislative future outside of the European Union’ (14.2%) and a ‘poor economic outlook for the UK’ (5.3%).

The Asset Alliance Industry Monitor - in association with Motor Transport - is a study into the size, shape and sentiments of the road transport industry and contains unique, exclusive insights into the future of the sector.
