Allport Cargo Services has appointed Charles McGurin as joint MD, replacing Jerry Gray who is to retire.
McGurin rejoins Allport after 13 years and will head up the company alongside joint MD Danny Clayton. Most recently, he worked at DHL Supply Chain as vice president, business development for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
He will begin his role in December when Gray retires after 40 years with the operator. Gray will be appointed as a non-executive director at the company in January.
Heath Zarin, chairman of Allport Cargo Services’ UK Group, said: "To support the transition of the joint managing director role, Jerry will also work closely with Charles McGurin, who I am delighted to welcome back to the Allport family.
"His previous time with us saw him form a formidable partnership with Danny Clayton as they established the foundations of our Supply Chain Management division and enabled us to become a market leader within the retail sector."
Allport’s seafreight divisional MD Kevin Witmore will also retire from his role after 38 years with the company. He plans to serve as group consultant at Allport, focusing particularly on its contract logistics business.
