Acumen Automotive turnover set to grow following JLR win

Acumen Automotive Logistics claims it can triple its turnover in three years after winning a three-year contract with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

The automotive transport arm of Acumen Logistics Group has predicted a doubling its turnover in 18 months based on JLR's current levels of growth.

According to Acumen Automotive Logistics most recent financial accounts published to Companies House, turnover for the year ended 31 December 2012 stood at £4.9m.

The contract, which could potentially be extended by two years, will see Acumen delivering finished Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles for both export markets and dealerships across the south of England and Wales.

The business has also invested £3.6m in 20 6x2 Euro-5 Scania P440 tractor units and 20 Lohr EHR 300 trailers for the new contract.

The Scanias are fitted with sleeper cabs and have been acquired via a contract hire and maintenance agreement from Riverside Truck Rental in Widnes.

The Lohr trailers are able to carry eight Land Rovers or nine Jaguars, and the operator has also refurbished 24 older trailers for use on the contract.

MD Chris Doughty said: “After rigorous testing we chose the Scania primarily for its fuel economy but were also impressed with the innovative interior and driver comfort. They provide our drivers with ample working space and an easy cab access.”

Director Peter Raybould said the firm has set out to become JLR’s “carrier of choice”.
