XPO Logistics has landed a major logistics and warehousing deal which will support the Home Office’s Border Force operations.

Under the five year agreement, which is expected to begin in March 2021, XPO will transport and store goods and vehicles for Border Force.

The deal comes as the UK prepares to leave the EU at the end of the transition period on December 2020 – a move requiring much greater border surveillance.

XPO will operate from existing government facilities and provide services covering the entire UK and Northern Ireland, as well as the UK border in France, located at Coquelles.

The logistics firm will be responsible for transporting items from the point where Border Force takes control of them to the appropriate storage location.

XPO has integrated its warehouse and transport management systems to provide Border Force with a single point of contact.

GPS tracking and real-time visibility also maintain the chain of evidence at each touchpoint, and stored goods are digitally documented.
