UK Mail is to open three new sites this year to accommodate current and future volume growth from its acquisition by Deutsche Post DHL.
The German parcel operator bought UK Mail last December to support its own overseas operation, which has seen UK Mail handling 20% more parcels, both domestic and international.
DHL will spend £21m on the new facilities to accommodate the extra volume and ensure the network can support anticipated growth in the future.
The new sites in Enfield, Milton Keynes and Aberdeen will more than double the capacity of existing operations in those areas.
The new 70,000ft² Enfield facility, due to open in October, will process 14,000 parcels a day.
The new Milton Keynes site will, at a cost of £11.8m, process 20,000 parcels a day across it's 102,000ft² when it opens in November.
The Milton Keynes site will also include a new, larger customer call centre, with all existing operations in the city migrating to the new site.
A new Aberdeen site is also due to open in November, which at 21,000ft² will double the size of its facility in the city.
Peter Fuller, UK Mail’s new CEO, said: “This investment in key sites is part of our strategic growth plan for the business. We’ve recently been awarded some major new contracts and we have ambitious targets to continue on this trajectory.
"To be successful we need to invest in the most effective infrastructure and equipment for our people to increase parcel handling capacity.”
