TNT’s new Swindon DC is complete and in use, and is expected to be fully operational by the end of the year.
The parcel hub and adjoining depot on Highworth Road, Swindon, was developed by IDI Gazeley over a 26 week period.
TNT reportedly chose the site because of its proximity to junction 15 of the M4, which it said will provide fast connections to customers across the south and south west.
Simon Harper, director of operations at TNT UK, said: “This facility is our biggest infrastructure investment in the UK for 15 years, and the result that we’ve achieved has been first class.
“Working with IDI Gazeley we were able to develop the parcel distribution hub to meet our exact needs, benefiting our business, our people, and most of all our customers.”
TNT is expected to have an official opening event at the end of September.
The firm is set to be taken over by Fedex, but the transaction hit a bump in the road in recent weeks when the EC announced it would conduct an “in-depth investigation” into the proposed transaction.
Fedex, however, said it remained confident that the acquisition would be successful.
