FTA subsidiary TDUK has bought Tachodisc out of administration.
It will take control of the business and “certain assets”, the nature of which were not disclosed, with immediate effect.
The business, which supplies tachograph equipment and compliance software, will trade under the TDUK brand and will be overseen by June Powell, director of operations at the FTA.
FTA chief executive David Wells said: “I am delighted to be able to announce that FTA has acquired the business and certain assets of Tachodisc Limited, which fits well with FTA’s current services and operation. This acquisition will help ensure the industry remains compliant.”
Aquarius IT, the software company that launched the ClockWatcher digital tachograph analysis software alongside Tachodisc, assured the software's users that the administration is not likely to affect them.
Aquarius director Guy Reynolds said: “Clockwatcher is a copyright protected software programme of Aquarius IT Limited, which for the last 10 years was made available to users by Tachodisc Limited under licence from Aquarius IT Limited. The news today means that all license arrangements made between Tachodisc Limited and Aquarius Limited have been terminated.
“These are circumstances beyond our control, but we want to reassure all ClockWatcher users affected that we will make it our upmost priority to ensure that this development at Tachodisc Limited today has no effect on their business. Furthermore, to ensure users continue to benefit from our market leading drivers’ hours law compliance software.”
