Spar wholesaler James Hall & Co has bought eight new Volvos to serve more than 600 stores across the country.
The operator bought six 4x2 FM tractor units as well as two 6x2 FE rigid trucks, with 410hp and 320hp respectively.
The vehicles have 11-litre Volvo engines and are equipped with I-Shift transmission gearboxes.
James Hall & Co runs a fleet of 86 vehicles, of which 52 are Volvos.
Ian Farnworth, fleet engineering manager at JJames Hall & Co, said the low entry cabs on the FM were particularly suited to the business's operation.
"The FM has very good low entry which suits a multi-drop operation,” he said. “Every vehicle we have is potentially operating in a multi-drop environment.”
The trucks were supplied by Thomas Hardie Commercials Preston, with which James Hall & Co holds Gold R&M contracts for the new vehicles. The operator's average annual mileage per vehicle is around 86,000km.
