Sir Mike Penning MP, chairman of the newly established Road Freight and Logistics All-Party Parliamentary Group will address delegates at the Microlise Transport Conference this May.
He will use his presentation to outline the aims and objectives of the group.
First elected in his Hemel Hempstead constituency in May 2005, Penning served as a minister in the DfT.
Now chairing a new cross-party group on Road Freight and Logistics, he is an outspoken supporter of the road transport industry and has an objective for parliament and the public to understand how important the industry is.
“We are aiming to address the driver shortage and want to ensure that clean air zones are sensibly implemented and do not disrupt supply chains or unfairly tax small businesses.
"We will also be calling for a sensible implementation period after March 2019 for the industry,” said Penning.
“As a passionate advocate for the transport industry, I am grateful for the opportunity to address Microlise Transport Conference delegates and update industry on what we have planned,” he added.
