Profits at S&S Distribution rose almost 86% last year, as the Kent-based family firm placed emphasis on offering an “excellent service” to its customer base.
Pre-tax profit for the year ending 31 July 2014 was £208,000 on a turnover of almost £8m. This increased from £112,000 in 2013, with sales during the previous period of £7.6m.
In accounts filed at Companies House, the Palletline and Hazchem network member said that its success was “dependent on the proper selection, pricing and ongoing management of the risks it accepts.
“The directors believe it is important to retain a diversified portfolio of customers and continue to be part of the original major pallet network.”
It added: “We provide regional distribution and contract distribution linked to the director’s warehousing business which helps to ensure our continuing large customer base. The company will continue to consolidate its position and concentrate its efforts on achieving maximum growth.”
Chairman David Sanderson declined to comment.
The company has a licence authorising 60 HGVs and 60 trailers out of three depots in Tonbridge and Maidstone.
