Technology specialist Samsara has launched a Fleet Electrification Report and an electric vehicle (EV) consulting service to help fleet managers get the information and the management support they need to electrify their fleets.
The launch follows a survey by Samsara which found that 46% of fleet managers are searching for data to help them decide which of their fleet vehicles are most suited to electrification.
The survey also revealed that 40% of fleet managers are seeking data to help them convince their management boards to agree to the electrification of some of their fleet, whilst 33% of fleets are looking for one-on-one consultation and coaching on how to get started.
The report provides data on each vehicle’s performance by grading fleet vehicles using criteria which include the vehicle’s age, its average fuel efficiency, its daily and maximum ranges and the fuel and emissions savings a switch will bring.

Samsara’s EV consulting service determines the total cost of ownership break-even point, assesses infrastructure and operational readiness, researches legislative policies and EV supply and helps fleet managers management support and buy-in.
The launch of both products comes as new research from Centrica Business Solutions reveals that fleet investment in electric vehicles (EVs) will increase by almost 50% over the next two years, to more than £12bn.
A Samsara spokeswoman told motortransport.co.uk: “Many fleet managers are considering EVs not only for environmental benefits but also the significant cost savings opportunities - especially now. But many don't have the data they need to develop an electrification strategy that will allow them to maximise return on investment. This is the problem our new service aims to solve.”
