Next-generation Cycle-Safe technology will be launched at Freight in the City Expo next month, for those operators in the market for a vulnerable road user (VRU) detection system for their urban fleets.

With London’s Direct Vision Standard (DVS) coming into effect from October 2020, manufacturer Trailer Vision said Cycle-Safe can provide a robust option to ensure HGVs meet the stricter safety rules.

Using the latest optical technology, Cycle-Safe combines both detection and vision in a single ‘smart camera’.

The intelligent system provides drivers with audible alerts and 'always on' visual warnings.

Operators can choose 'always on' audio, or audio which activates only when turning (indicating).

Cycle-Safe differentiates between moving (VRUs) and static objects, reducing driver workload and false alarms.

It can be integrated into existing camera systems, including additional 'smart cameras', sensors, alarms and DVRs.

Speaking ahead of the event, which takes place at Alexandra Palace, London, on 6 November, Cycle-Safe and Trailer Vision director Neil Todd said: “We consider Freight in The City Expo to be the best platform to demonstrate systems that affect operators in London and want to understand DVS compliancy.

“Compliancy that affects London today is extremely likely to affect all cities tomorrow; Freight in The City Expo and Cycle-Safe are exemplifying good practice and safe vehicle technology to ensure safer cities for all.”

Freight in the City Expo is now in its fifth year and continues to focus on policy, operation and technology to make urban goods deliveries cleaner, safer and more efficient. It is free to attend, so make sure to register for your free pass today!
