AO Gravesend Depot

Online electrical retailer AO has opened its 18th depot, this time in Gravesend, as it capitalises on growing demand fuelled by the pandemic.

The opening of the new site follows the opening of two new distribution warehouses in Crewe and Stafford earlier this year and follows hot on the heels of its hunt to fill 250 logistics roles as its network grows.

AO said the latest 1.2 acre site has created eight onsite jobs and there will be a number of positions available in the delivery driver crews.

David Ashwell, MD of AO Logistics, said: “The new depot is in the ideal location to support our growth as a business – we’ll be closer to our customers in Kent and have even more distribution space available.

AO.com acquired the two-person delivery company, formerly Expert Logistics, in 2009 and it now offers next day delivery on its range of 12,000 electrical products.

Earlier this month it said it was recruiting for hundreds of jobs at its Crewe hub in response to the rapid growth in online shopping during the Covid-19 pandemic.
