A group that aims to promote Sheffield as an area for more warehousing and logistics companies to invest in was launched at Multimodal yesterday (29 April).
The group, called Logistics Hub UK, is formed of companies from both the private and public sectors and hopes to attract more logistics companies to the region.
It has recently helped open new facilities for M&S and Great Bear and has also helped expand the area’s Enterprise Zone status.
The group comprises of Verdion, Gazeley, Peel Land and Property, Harworth Estates, Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield, Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, Business Doncaster, Doncaster Chamber of Commerce and Doncaster College.
Steve Gill, Logistics Hub UK chair and MD at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, said: “Our mission is to establish Doncaster and the Sheffield City Region as the North of England's leading multimodal logistics hub, and to create a vibrant, successful logistics sector.
“[Logistics Hub UK] is the shop window for anyone who is in the logistics industry or looking for sites for distribution operations. It makes businesses aware of the competitive advantages of the region as the place to invest.”
Logistics Hub UK is exhibiting at Multimodal this week in Hall 8 stand 262.
