MP visit Gemini 4[53533]

Parcel delivery firm Evri hosted a visit by East Ham MP Stephen Timms to its depot in Beckton last week.

The management team took the MP (pictured right) on a tour around the site and told him about the firm’s growth and innovation plans and its investment in sustainability initiatives.

The Beckton depot delivers 700 million parcels a year and serves the central London area. More than six million parcels are handled at the site each year.

The site is also home to 24 electric vans which are used to deliver on more than 100 delivery rounds within the ultra-low emission zone.

The site has previously been used to trial new innovative initiatives such as pedestrian couriers, and driverless vehicles.

The tour was followed by discussions around Evri’s overall business performance, which has seen double digit growth over the past few years.

Ionut Alexandru Andor, Evri depot general manager (pictured left), said: “Today was a great opportunity to showcase how we are continuing to grow and invest in our operations in the area. We are proud to provide to be the site selected to trial initiatives which will make our planet a healthier place to live and work.”

Timms, who previously visited the site in 2018, added: “I was delighted to visit Evri’s impressive local depot today.

"I was struck by the scope and scale of what the staff do. The depot plays an essential part in our local economy, providing good job and training opportunities. The fact it is so busy bodes well for the area’s future.”
