Operators delivering into and around London are reminded that the Olympic Route Network (ORN) is live as of today (25 July) and will remain in place until 14 August.
All traffic can use the vast majority of the 109-mile long ORN, it is just the dedicated Games Lanes that are reserved for accredited Games vehicles and on-call emergency vehicles.
The ORN is operational between the hours of 6am and midnight, during which time no stopping or unloading is permitted on the ORN.
Games Lanes will be monitored by a network of cameras and a contravention of a Games Lane or other moving regulation, such as a banned turn or incursion into a yellow box junction, will result in a penalty charge notice of up to £130 being issued to the driver.
Transport for London (TfL) has stated that the Games Lanes will remain open to general traffic if the number of vehicles carrying athletes and officials are low and journey time reliability targets are being met.
The following two roadside electronic variable message signs will be used to indicate whether the Games Lanes are in use or not:
- Games Lanes OPEN to general traffic: “All traffic use Games Lane”
- Games Lanes CLOSED to general traffic: “Games Lane now Games Vehicles only”
TfL is issuing twice daily email bulletins with all the latest London 2012 traffic news on. To register, send your details to: freight@tfl.gov.uk
