Northumberland’s Fergusons Transport has celebrated its centenary with a new MAN TGX featuring a ‘100 years on the road’ livery.
The Cramlington haulier has also taken delivery of 10 new TGX 26.480 6x2 tractors with GX cabs.
Founded in 1926 by Matthew Ferguson, Fergie’s began as a general goods carrier between Blyth and Newcastle.
Currently under the leadership of third-generation family member Alan Ferguson OBE, the company operates a mixed fleet of 130 vehicles, of which MAN has 75%, and a range of trailers, including curtain-siders, armoured curtain-siders, stepped-frame trailers, flatbeds and specialist trailers.
Transport director Michael Arkle said: “100 years is a significant milestone in the company’s history, and something we are all incredibly proud of.
“To help us celebrate and mark this considerable achievement, we wanted a vehicle that would represent the company and stand out while on the road delivering our customers’ goods.”
He added: “Our centenary vehicle, as it is special, has a slight uplift in power and a few extra features for the driver, which I’m sure will be appreciated.
“On a daily basis, it will join the main fleet operating from our Washington depot traveling across the country delivering customer goods.”
