Morrisons has confirmed plans to restructure operations at its RDC in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, in order to improve efficiency.
The supermarket holds an O-licence to operate 32 vehicles and 50 trailers out of the site, located on the Wakefield 41 Industrial Estate.
A spokeswoman for the supermarket could not confirm whether any driving roles were under threat, but said potentially 100 roles “across a number of departments” could be affected by the changes. She did not comment on what changes will be made.
The spokeswoman said: “We are introducing a number of operational changes across our logistics operation aimed at improving efficiency.
“As a result, we have begun to consult with colleagues at Wakefield Regional Distribution Centre about a number of proposals.”
She added that the supermarket hopes to minimise the number of redundancies by offering affected staff alternative jobs within the business, where possible.
The supermarket last year closed its transport operation at its DC in Swan Valley, Northampton.
- Morrisons has also signed a deal with parcel locker firm InPost to install lockers at 500 supermarkets across the country. The first lockers have been put in place at its Dewsbury Road supermarket in Wakefield.
