John Lewis has begun a trial investigating the pros and cons of bringing its parcel deliveries in-house. Argos has launched a same day delivery service for 20,000 of its products in a bid to get ahead of its competitors for the Christmas shopping season.
Upmarket retailer Harrods has opened its new 346,000ft² DC in Thatcham, Berkshire. Opened on 16 October, the site is its sole UK DC and replaces a facility at Osterley, west London. Purchased in May 2011, the DC will serve the retailer’s store in Knightsbridge, west London, as well as airport boutiques and e-commerce operations.
