Parcel delivery network APC Overnight made a £4.42m pre-tax profit last year, a 30.4% increase on the previous year’s figures.
Turnover for the year ended 31 March 2012 rose 13.5% to £65.7m (2010/11: £57.9m) as a result of increased customer demand.
Chief executive Syed Ziaullah said: “These results really are a reflection of the huge surge in customer demand seen right across the business during the last financial year.
"We pride ourselves on delivering the best service in the business and this is reflected in our loyal customer base and upsurge in new business enquiries.”
The firm has also appointed a new director, Martin Russell, who owns several APC depot locations operated by Streetwise Couriers including Coventry, New Malden, Croydon, Gatwick and Brighton.
Company secretary Ivor Skinner said in the directors' report: “The performance of the night operation has exceeded all KPI’s and has contributed to the strong trading position of the company. It is planned to exceed the already high performance levels in the coming year.”
APC expects to open a second national hub in Cannock in Spring 2013, increasing its capacity to 200,000 parcels per night. It had planned to open the hub in time for this year’s Christmas peak, but bad weather and longer than expected ground works delayed construction.
The firm took a delivery of ten double-decker trailers earlier this year to increase trunking capacity and improve efficiency.
