Transport@Autologic Holdings plc - Transporter 2

Autologic has made its third asset acquisition from failed car transporter hauliers in as many years.

Through its subsidiary Walon it has acquired certain assets of Spirit Motortransport, which entered administration on Friday 11 May.

Autologic says the assets acquired comprise car transporters, IT and office equipment and the goodwill attached to the Spirit name.

Avril Palmer-Baunack, chief executive of Autologic, says: “We have taken the opportunity to acquire further key assets that strengthen our operational transporter fleet, which is the largest in the UK following the failure of yet another competitor in the fast-consolidating automotive logistics sector.

“This follows our acquisition in 2010 of MCD/Autocarriers and earlier this year of Sensible Transport, also both out of administration.”

Last year, Spirit Motortransport acquired the assets and contracts of Spirit Autologistics for £174,231 from administrators BDO on 13 July 2011. On the same day it acquired the assets of Glasgow-based Eurotrans Contracts for £325,678.

Spirit Autologistics held three O-licences for a total of 85 vehicles and 85 trailers across seven different operating centres. All three have subsequently been revoked.
