Scarborough haulier TEF Transport, which was established more than 50 years ago, has filed papers in court to appoint administrators.
The Palletforce and UPN member did not answer our calls as we went to press but records showed it lodged its intention to enter administration in Leeds Business and Property Court on 27 November.
The haulier has been trading since 1970 and provides third-party logistics and warehousing solutions across the UK.
TEF specialises in chilled and general transport services and operates a 75,000sq ft warehousing facility.
It holds two operator licences, one in the North East traffic area where it operates 44 HGVs out of three bases in Scarborough, Bradford and Dewsbury and one in Scotland where it has authorisation to run 15 lorries out of Lockerbie.
The last set of accounts for the company were for the period ending 31 December 2022, but it said that 2023 had seen a slowdown in trading compared to the previous year, with post-pandemic corrections and the slowdown in the general economy impacting the sectors it operated within.
Turnover had reduced by 7% to £5.2m and it made a pre-tax loss of £135,600.
A spokesman for Palletforce said it had already replaced the postcode area the haulier covered with two neighbouring members.
UPN declined to comment.
This year has seen a raft of administrations and closures in the haulage sector after 494 entered insolvency in 2023.
Caledonian Logistics was the latest to succumb, along with PL Transport Logistics, McGregor Logistics, Truswell Haulage and Smarthub Logistics.
