Yodel rejects claims it may be seeking buyer

Yodel has denied it may be up for sale, following reports that its owners the Barclay family were reviewing their entire stable of UK businesses.

Press reports in October 2019 suggested that the owners of Shop Direct, The Telegraph, the Ritz hotel, as well as parcel delivery business Yodel, were considering offloading these companies and that financial advisers were preparing to value the portfolio.

Earlier this month, the Financial Times reported that the Barclays had entered discussions to sell the Ritz Hotel in London to an investment group that represents wealthy Saudi Arabian families.

However, responding to questions from motortransport.co.uk about how any potential sale might impact upon the service the parcel carrier currently provides, Yodel chief executive Mike Hancox said: “There are no plans for Yodel to be sold.”
