Yearsley Logistics has put 35 additional Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated trailers into operation.
The S.KO Cool tri-axle refrigerated trailers join its 400-strong trailer fleet and will be used to distribute frozen goods across the UK.
They have been fitted with Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration units, and have split internal cushion doors to allow the loading of fewer pallets when required.
The trailers also have 3-phase electrical sockets, allowing Yearsley to connect the refrigeration unit to an industrial power supply to keep them running when parked up without the use of diesel.
Schmitz says it has supplied 75% of Yearsley’s trailer fleet.
Will Maycock, head of transport at Yearsley Logistics, said: “We looked at a variety of manufacturers but we’ve found that Schmitz Cargobull provide a very strong offering in terms of cost of ownership – upfront price, operating costs and residual value – all elements that are very important to Yearsley Logistics.”
Yeasley is awaiting the opening of its third ‘superhub’ in Peterborough next year.
