XPO Logistics has been awarded a multi-million pound contract with Wavin, to manage its UK transport operations.
Wavin is a subsidiary of plastic pipe system manufacturer Mexichem.
XPO has developed a customised delivery solution for Wavin that manages the company’s routes across the UK to market, as a single, integrated network.
XPO will manage the delivery of product to merchants and construction projects from Wavin’s manufacturing sites in Chippenham, Doncaster and Hazelhead. Transport services will also operate from XPO’s site in Motherwell, Scotland.
As part of its work for Wavin XPO will provide end-to-end transport visibility, and the scalability to adapt to future demand.
Andrew Crosby, European procurement lead at Wavin, said: “We see XPO’s ability to handle our transport requirements within its own network as a key benefit; it gives us reassurance that our customers will receive a consistent delivery experience.
Luis Gomez, MD transport at XPO Logistics Europe, said: “We’re proud to be selected to support a brand that has become synonymous with quality in the construction sector. Wavin was looking for an efficient delivery partner that could provide multiple services under one umbrella.
"XPO’s comprehensive capacity within the UK and across Europe offers many potential advantages should we wish to scale up. We are delighted to be working together and I’m pleased to say that the transition to date has been completely seamless.”
