Wyvern Cargo said it would save £25,000 a year on trailer brake testing after installing Webfleet’s trailer management system.
The haulage firm, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, said it was facing significant price increases from its trailer servicing provider to meet the additional costs of the DVSA’s trailer brake testing legislation kicking in this month.
It responded by equipping 100 trailers with Webfleet’s Link 350 and electronic braking performance monitoring system and said it will save the company thousands.
Simon Sparrowhawk, Wyvern operations director said: “Transitioning from an annual brake test to one every 12 weeks not only increases costs, but also leads to greater potential downtime and wasted manpower, as trailers require more frequent returns to depots for traditional rolling road brake tests.
“We ran the figures to compare the new trailer maintenance costs against Webfleet and it was a total no-brainer – the Webfleet solution allows us to track all of our 90-plus trailers for the first time and save £25k at the same time.”
He added: “With our daily five am reports, we can see where all our trailers are, who is driving, when it was last loaded, current load details, and service, MOT and maintenance status, all just by clicking on the screen or typing in a trailer reference number.”
