Wincanton has been awarded a new contract with retailer Halfords that will see it become the sole operator of its national transport contract.
Halfords awarded the contract after an initial distribution project which looked to deliver a more efficient delivery management for the retailer. During this period Wincanton also demonstrated its expertise in change management and provided guidance on how Halfords can manage its infrastructure to improve service and efficiency.
Wincanton chief executive: Eric Born, said: “From the beginning of our consultative relationship with Halfords, we have worked hard to develop a deep understanding of the business and build strong relationships. We’re excited to now be working so closely with such a well-known and well-loved British brand, ensuring its customers receive the highest levels of service and quality.”
The contract goes live in the summer and will see Wincanton run 80 vehicles as it oversees distribution from Halfords operational centre as well as sites in Redditch, Worcestershire; Bury, Greater Manchester; Mossend, North Lanarkshire; Portbury, Somerset and Greenford, West London.
