Wincanton has been re-accredited with a bronze status by Transport for London’s Freight Operator Recognition Scheme (Fors).

The voluntary certification scheme ensures that operators in London and elsewhere in the UK work to high standards that go beyond minimum legal requirements in areas such as health and safety and environmental impact.

Wincanton said it was able to demonstrate that all of its operations requiring vehicles over 3.5-tonnes met Fors requirements to ensure a safe and compliant operation and improve road safety.

The logistics giant said it was the second year that the business had received the bronze accreditation.

“Safety is a priority at Wincanton and a key consideration in everything that we do,” said Dean Clamp, Wincanton health and safety director. “We are committed to raising road safety standards, both for our drivers and other road users and the FORS re-accreditation is testament to our commitment.”

Fors was launched in 2008 in response to the numbers of vulnerable road users involved in incidents with lorries on the capital’s roads.

•  Wincanton has recently been named as one of the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers by the National Apprenticeship Service.
