Palletline has poached Wincanton’s MD of e-fulfilment, Carl Moore, and appointed him as its chief executive, effective from 1 July.

His recruitment follows an announcement last year that current CEO Graham Leitch would replace chairman Forsyth Black after he completes his term at the end of June.

Moore joins the business after it recently announced a five-year strategy, which it hopes will shape its future through building capacity, strengthening the network and expanding internationally.

The plan will see £10m spent on growing Palletline’s hub capacity by another 6,000 pallets per night and includes IT system upgrades.

Moore’s career in logistics spans more than 20 years and Palletline said he brought strong commercial and operational leadership and experience of tech-enabled growth, along with a collaborative, values-led style.

Carl Moore set to join Palletline as it enters its next phase of growth.

Prior to his time at Wincanton, Moore worked for Clipper Logistics, playing a senior leadership role in scaling the business, culminating in its acquisition in 2022 by GXO Logistics for almost £1bn.

Moore said: “Palletline’s unique member-owned network, strong values and focus on service and collaboration really resonate with me.

“I’m excited to be joining the business and working with the members, the network and the wider team to deliver sustainable growth, strengthen engagement and continue to evolve Palletline’s offering whilst maintaining the market leading level of service for which Palletline is renowned.”

Leitch added: “Carl brings a rare combination of commercial insight and operational leadership, with a strong track record of delivering growth at scale.

“He understands how technology, people and service need to work together, and his collaborative, values-led approach is a natural fit with Palletline’s culture and network model.”
