Warrington-based haulier JPA Transport Services has entered administration, putting at risk around 24 jobs.
The company, which held a standard international licence authorising up to 35 HGVs and nine trailers out of eight operating centres in the North West traffic area, appointed administrators from Leonard Curtis on 8 June.
Its work involved sub-contracted parcel delivery and its depots are based in Accrington, Crewe, Bury and Milnthorpe, as well as three in Warrington.
In June 2022, the deputy traffic commissioner Simon Evans curtailed JPA’s operator licence by two vehicles for 10 weeks after a maintenance investigation by the DVSA uncovered concerns over its record keeping and brake tests.
The DTC said there were “clear positives” in the way the haulier had attempted to resolve the problems, but that a significant negative was that a previous public inquiry in 2020 had not been enough to correct issues at the firm.
As a result, Evans said he could not justify the company’s application to increase its authorisation by 10 lorries following the end of the curtailment, but he would allow a further five vehicles to be added to the licence.
Leonard Curtis was unable to respond to a request for comment.
