Volvo Trucks will be displaying a liquefied natural gas-powered FH tractor unit at next month’s Freight in the City Expo at London’s Alexandra Palace.
The manufacturer said its LNG variant can reduce tank-to-wheel CO2 emissions in the long haul and regional sector by up to 20%.
Now in series production, both FH and FM versions can be equipped with an integrated 7” screen in the centre of the dash to support external cameras, while the FM is also available with a lower passenger door window available from the factory.
Volvo Trucks is currently working with gas suppliers and customers to help expand LNG infrastructure in the UK – a development it said is also being supported by the EU.
"With our new trucks running on LNG or biogas, we can now offer an alternative with low climate impact that also meets high demands on performance, fuel efficiency and operating range," said John Comer, head of product for Volvo Trucks in the UK & Ireland.
Also on display outside the Freight in the City Expo will be an FM Low Height 4x2 urban tractor with full air suspension. Volvo said this offers high visibility, side protection and a 270o camera system providing the driver with optimum vision in built-up areas.
In addition, Volvo has chosen Freight in the City Expo for the UK debut of its new FE-Electric urban distribution truck.
Freight in the City Expo takes place on 6 November at London’s Alexandra Palace. It combines an exciting line-up of industry speakers focused on the challenges and best practice surrounding urban logistics, with a vast exhibition of the latest city-centric trucks, vans and equipment.
