Volvo has launched a limited edition Ailsa truck in honour of the eponymous firm that introduced Volvo trucks to the UK fifty years ago.
The limited edition of just 50 Ailsa FH 4x2 and 6x2 tractor units come in either black on gold, or gold on black.
The exterior is complemented by a customised interior upholstered in black and gold leather, with gold floor and engine tunnel mats.
The 50th Anniversary ‘Ailsa Edition’ logo is also stitched into the upholstery.
The truck comes with 750hp, Volvo Dynamic Steering, I-Park Cool air conditioning system, I-See Predictive Cruise control, TomTom navigation and the latest media package for streaming.
Home comforts include a microwave, television and fridge freezer, and a personal protection package, including a security box, laminated door glass and an alarm.
Ailsa Trucks director Douglas Keyden said the limited edition honoured the memory of the firm’s co-founders Jim Keyden and Jim McKelvie, who introduced the first Volvo truck – the F86 - into the UK in 1967.
“To my father and Jim McKelvie, through the reliability and safety of the F86 and subsequent trucks, Volvo delivered value. What is more, the customers, distributors and employees were ‘family’. I don’t think you can do better than that,” he said.
