DHL has won a nationwide vehicle distribution contract with car dealership Vindis Group.
The new contract will see DHL’s vehicle distribution arm Inside Track handle over 4,000 movements of new and demonstrator vehicles per year from Vindis’ site in Alconbury, Cambridgeshire, while the majority of the deliveries will take place in the East of England.
DHL aims to reduce costs and improve consistency of service for the Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley and Skoda dealer, which previously used multiple logistics firms to move its vehicles.
Vindis Group fleet director Colin Hutton said: “The professional handover of vehicles to our customers is a crucial part of our fleet operations. Delivery is a key customer touch point and it is imperative that any partner we choose has a thorough understanding of all of the vehicles operated by the Vindis Group.”
The contract includes the use of handheld units by delivery drivers, which enables customers to track their order.
