The UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) is hosting its first ever UKWA Solar Showcase this September at Howard Tenens Logistics’ warehouse in Swindon, after experiencing "huge interest" from members in installing solar PV on their warehouse rooftops.
The free event, which takes place on 7 September, will see the Howard Tenens team share the challenges the company experienced along the way as well as the benefits of installing solar PV at its Swindon warehouse.
UKWA will also be launching a new legal guidance note from Weightmans at the event. The note explains some of the contractual considerations for occupiers of leased warehouse properties when entering a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
PPAs and other financial models will be explained by an expert panel, including a special asset finance deal from SGEF, exclusively for UKWA Members.

Other speakers at the event will include representatives from trade bodies Solar Energy UK and the National Federation of Roofing Contractors, who will also answer questions from the audience.
In addition Clegg Gifford will explain the insurance requirements relating to installation of solar PV, and specialists will compare and contrast the benefits of different solar technologies.
Every UKWA member who attends will receive a copy of UKWA’s Solar Toolkit, with step-by-step guidance to help plan a rooftop solar project.
UKWA CEO Clare Bottle said: “Only 5% of UK warehouses have solar panels on the roof, yet as our landmark report showed, collectively warehouses have enough roof-space to double the UK’s capacity for renewable energy from solar power and help the country achieve its Net Zero ambitions.
"While energy costs remain painfully high and demanding customers are expecting a reduction in their warehouses’ carbon footprint, now is the perfect time to explore how a solar panel installation project could benefit your business."
