The UK could be set for the busiest parcel season ever this Christmas, with almost 1.3bn predicted to land on British doorsteps.
Independent research found there is likely to be a 10.9% increase in deliveries taking place this festive season – more than 100m more parcels compared to last year.
Data commissioned by FedEx showed the UK is cranking up to be the busiest market for parcels, representing 21% of the total deliveries made and equating to 12 parcels per person across the UK and Europe.
The UK was gauged to be the parcel delivery capital of Europe, edging out Germany (1.08bn deliveries) and well ahead of France in third place (524m).
FedEx said there were predicted to be approximately as many deliveries this festive season in the UK as there would be in France, Spain and Italy combined and they will account for over a fifth (21%) of all European deliveries.
In total, it found there would be 6.2bn parcels delivered across the UK and Europe.
