Sustainable tyre firm ENSO said it had achieved ‘B Corporation Certification’ status – a designation awarded to organisations striving to make a sustainable and ethical impact.
EVs typically wear tyres 20-50% faster than petrol and diesel models, due to their higher weight and torque and they need replacements more often, resulting in increased waste.
ENSO is aiming to develop next-generation, energy efficient, low-emission tyres and its London-based team is designing sustainable tyres specifically for EVs to increase their range and reduce pollution.

B Corporation, or B-Corp, is a global movement of businesses supporting each other to improve and drive global change and to achieve its status, ENSO’s business operations and ESG strategy were scrutinised to evaluate its commitment to meeting high standards.
Gunnlaugur Erlendsson, ENSO chief executive and founder, said: “To be the first tyre company in the world to be awarded B-Corp status is a huge recognition and validation of our commitment to sustainably delivering a cleaner future for mobility.
“We hope our B-Corp certification will signal a vital move within the industry and inspire other tyre manufacturers to prioritise purpose over profit.”
