Transdek UK will be exhibiting its latest Urban Double-Deck Trailer at Freight in the City Expo in London next month.
The trailer firm said its 29 pallet or 50 roll cage capacity allows it to carry twice the load of a conventional 18-tonne rigid vehicle and 55% more load than an 11m single-deck trailer.
This can halve the number of vehicle journeys made into city centre stores, Transdek added.
The 10.6m trailers have been fitted with Transdek’s sash-type rear doors, which provide extra safety for drivers, loaders and passing traffic during kerbside unloading, without impacting on internal load space.
Built to a height of just under 4m, the trailers are particularly suited to challenging city environments including low bridges and height-restricted underground unloading areas.
The trailer has been fitted with Transdek’s new tail-lift, which has been designed with a range of safety features for operators. Its hydraulic platform rear flaps automatically stow to provide extra strength to the rear gates while the platform is raised.
Leon Butler, MD of Transdek, said: “The topic of environment, emissions and air pollution has never been more important. The government Road to Zero strategy presents logistical and operational questions that businesses are going to have to find solutions for.
“We feel strongly that double-deck trailers designed for the urban environment can drastically reduce the number of vehicles in towns and cities. Carrying greater volumes per vehicle in a single trip is key, and something we’re keen to help more businesses introduce to cut their emission outputs."
The fourth annual Freight in the City Expo next month will focus heavily on air quality policy and efforts being made by fleet operators to reduce vehicle emissions when delivering into urban areas.
Key speakers from the DfT, FTA, John Lewis & Partners, DHL Supply Chain, DPD UK, Veolia and Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership are among many top names lined up to discuss emissions-reduction in the conference programme.
It takes place on 6 November at London’s Alexandra Palace, so book your free place today!
