TNT Express is to restructure its finance and admin functions in a move that will see it cut 237 data entry, administrative, supervisory and clerical roles.
The operator said it had already commenced consultations with trade unions and was “working closely with staff, and their representatives, to support those employees most affected by the changes, including considering redeployment options where appropriate”.
Alistair Cochrane, MD of TNT Express UK & Ireland (pictured), said: “It is with deep regret we have to take these difficult steps.
"The reality is that we have to provide a competitive service to our customers in the face of challenging trading conditions. These steps are required to strengthen our company for the long term.”
The changes are scheduled to begin in January 2014.
