Trailer rental, leasing and maintenance provider TIP has opened a new branch in Shepshed, Leicestershire, complete with purpose-built trailer and truck maintenance and repair workshop.

Located immediately off Junction 23 of the M1 the 3.5 acre site was, until recently, just a parking location for TIP trailers but, following extensive development work commencing last September, it has been transformed into a fully-equipped, modern trailer and truck hire and maintenance depot.

Central to the development was the construction of a brand new, spacious eight-bay workshop to accommodate the maintenance and repair of semi-trailers and trucks of all shapes and sizes.

The workshop has a dedicated Authorised Testing Facility lane, three further inspection pits, cleaning bay and two roller brake testers. Two of the bays are dedicated to truck maintenance and repair.

The site also offers secure parking for up to 120 trailers / trucks to provide ample capacity for HGV assets that are available for hire.

The branch is part of TIP’s ongoing programme that is re-developing former Ryder sites UK-wide.

Darren Owen, newly appointed branch manager, said: “Opening the doors of TIP Shepshed was a proud moment for those that have been involved in the development over the months.

“The branch is ideally located by the M1 and is ready to serve transport operators throughout the East Midlands region and beyond. We are already fielding numerous enquiries, both for rental and for the maintenance and repair services that we offer, and we look forward to seeing just what we can achieve moving forward.”

The team based at the branch is a mix of those transferred from other TIP locations and employees that are new to TIP, with recruitment still in process for some technician roles.

TIP’s investment in the development forms part of its growth strategy of its branch network infrastructure across the UK. The company’s nationwide network numbers more than 30, consisting of branches, workshop-only facilities and customer-dedicated workshop facilities.
