A lorry driver was allegedly dragged from his cab on the A19 last week by the occupants of a Mercedes car before an attempt was made to assault him.
Police are now appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of the incident, which occurred at around 6.25pm on the northbound A-road near to Billingham on Monday 19 April.
Cleveland police said the blue Mercedes pulled across the carriageway, stopping the HGV on a slip road near to Wolviston interchange, before the driver was pulled out of his vehicle.
The driver managed to get back into his vehicle and call police at a nearby services.
Three males aged 22, 23 and 33 have since been arrested in connection with the incident.
