Hull-based Ashcourt Group has taken on four new 44-tonne Volvo FH Electric tractor units – the biggest single order in the UK so far for the truck maker’s zero emission models.

Supplied by Crossroads Truck and Bus, the 6x2s are additions to the group’s fleet and will help service its growing order book.

Emily Summerson, operations director at The Ashcourt Group, said: “Across the whole group, we’re making a conscious effort not to follow but to set the benchmark within the construction industry when it comes to decarbonisation.

“These electric Volvos perfectly complement our ongoing investment in providing sustainable construction materials, with their arrival marking a significant step towards achieving our environmental goals.

“Having now witnessed their operational performance and the carbon reduction potential first-hand, we’re convinced that electric mobility has a vital role to play in our sector.”
