An improved pay offer put forward by Certas to its 400 fuel tanker drivers has been accepted and planned strike action has now been called off.
The Unite union said workers voted in favour of the deal, which includes a 3.25% pay increase backdated to April 2025.
Unite added that it also meant drivers will receive RPI inflation rises for 2026 and 2027, with a minimum of 3% and maximum of 3.75%.
The driver were initially offered a 2% pay deal.
Strike action was due to commence on 22 December, but it was postponed when Certas made a new offer to the drivers a few days before Christmas.
Certas is based in Warrington, but the drivers are located across the UK as they pick up fuel from different oil refineries and deliver to clients across the country.
They deliver petrol, diesel, heating oil and lubrication oil to clients across the UK, including the Royal Mail, the military, schools, hundreds of Gulf forecourts, Shell and Valvoline.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The tanker drivers at Certas stood together in their union and won. Unite is totally focused on delivering better jobs, pay and conditions for our members.”
Certas did not respond as we went to press, but it previously thanked union representatives and drivers for their willingness to maintain talks in order to find a solution.
