Talstaff Recruitment in Rotherham has partnered with haulier Stanton Logistics to launch an HGV apprenticeship scheme and get newly qualified drivers onto the career ladder.

Talstaff said that as an agency with a background in lorry driver recruitment it was acutely aware of the pressures faced in the industry over the last few years when searching for good quality candidates.

“At Talstaff Recruitment we are proud to have recently supported 13 HGV drivers into the industry by financing their training in conjunction with our close partner LAD Training who provide expert training in South Yorkshire to the logistics and transport industry,” said Louise Loveden, Talstaff HR manager.

“Those in the industry will be aware that many companies steer away from newly-passed drivers and we are passionate about breaking the cycle, paving the way for those wanting to embark on a career as a HGV driver and we encourage all other companies to do the same.

“The apprenticeship provides opportunities for driving licence holders to earn a living whilst completing an apprenticeship to become an HGV driver,” she added.

Stanton Logistics provides temperature controlled, ambient and specialist distribution services out of depots in Rotherham, Doncaster, Corby and Newton Aycliffe and it is expected its first apprentice will gain their Class 1 licence early next year.
