Suttons Tankers has promoted Chrisi Lloyd-Roberts to the role of operations director, leading a team of 700 drivers and 100 staff. She takes over the role from Steve Hassall, who was promoted to fleet director last month.
Both promotions are part of a wider strategy to strengthen the company’s fleet and operations as it continues to win new contracts and experience rapid growth.
Lloyd-Roberts has been with Suttons since 2014 when she left her role as senior procurement and project manager at Cheshire West and Chester Council to become Suttons group procurement and transformation manager. Her most recent role at the company was as business improvement director.
In her new role Lloyd-Roberts will be responsible for service delivery of the customer base, P&L performance and excellence through operations, drawing on her previous experience in the efficient implementation of major new contracts and systems, process improvement and procurement.
Lloyd-Roberts is also a board member of Suttons and has been involved in the creation and execution of the group’s strategy as well as in both the long and short term aims of the business.
Suttons said that Lloyd-Roberts will be building on the success that Hassall has achieved in strengthening the structure of the operations team with strategic appointments and streamlined processes. It added that she will also focus on the future scalability of the business to prepare it for further growth.
MD Michael Cundy said: “Chrisi’s board level experience and excellent transferrable skills made her a strong fit for the job. I am looking forward to seeing her contribution to this critical area of the business.”
Lloyd-Roberts added: “Using my operational leadership experience from manufacturing I am looking forward to working with the Tankers operational teams.
“Over the coming months I’ll be focusing on the critical themes of safety, customer service and efficiency, whilst retaining stability through this challenging period of the national driver shortage.”
