Wholesale supplier Savona Foodservice has become the second customer to sign up to Tevva Motor’s ‘Electrify’ initiative, running one of its range extended EVs to demonstrate its environmental credentials.

Savona will hire a 3.9m wheelbase, 12-tonne truck with tail lift and a multi-temperature body to transport frozen foods from its Kidlington depot to businesses in London and Oxford.

Assuming the six-month trial goes well, then Savona intends to incorporate the truck into its permanent fleet and will consider additional eTrucks.

Oxford is one of the first cities to implement a zero-emissions zone and it said the Tevva tie-in will help it offer continuity of service.

Mike Morgan, Savona Foodservice MD said: “We have been on the search for a suitable delivery solution for some time but conversations with other companies stopped dead in their tracks as soon as we started discussing running refrigeration down to -20 degrees.”
