Turnover fell 2.7% at Cheltenham-based John Hackling (Transport) in 2024, although its directors said they were satisfied with the year’s trading.
For the year ending 30 September 2024, it reported revenues of £15.5m (£15.9m). Profit before tax reduced to £71,000 from £471,000 the year before.
A breakdown of the company’s turnover showed it increased within its haulage operations, from £13.2m to £13.4m during the period.
However, revenues fell by £716,000 within its storage and handling work.
“The management of the company and the execution of the company’s strategy are subject to a number of risks,” the haulier said in a review of its business.
“The key business risks and uncertainties affecting the company are considered to relate to competition from other national haulage contractors and changes in external factors which influence the company’s cost base, particularly in respect of fuel prices.”
However, it also said: “The directors consider the performance for the year and the financial position at the year end to be satisfactory.
“The company has sufficient financial resources available and is currently trading profitably and generating cash.”
John Hackling operates 75 HGVs and 100 trailers out of its two depots in Swindon and Cheltenham.
