The Unite union said strike action among Turners’ tanker drivers in Grangemouth would continue next week, despite the company telling Motor Transport it was having no impact on the business.

The row over pay began in October and the next round of strikes are due to commence on 22 and 23 December, following what the union said was an impasse in talks via conciliation service ACAS.

It claimed Turners had refused to improve on a “real terms pay cut” amounting to 1% for 2025.

Unite general secretary, Sharon Graham, said: “Turners continues to treat its highly skilled drivers with contempt because that’s what their miserly pay offer amounts to.

“Turners is a very profitable company, yet it thinks its drivers deserve a real terms pay cut. That’s unacceptable. Unite will back our members at Turners all the way in their fight to secure better jobs, pay and conditions.”

However, the boss of the haulage firm said the industrial action now only involved three HGV drivers and it had not had to rely on agency drivers during the dispute: “We remain very disappointed,” MD Paul Day added.

“There is no impact on the operation. We hope they will return very soon.”
